ATX Knives

My name is Dennis Clark and I am from Austin, Texas. I have been interested in knives all my life. Like most men, I began carrying a knife at about age 12. And like most men, I will probably have at least two knives in my pockets when I die. When it came time for a career change, I decided that making really good knives would be fun. I decided I would create ATX Knives so that the world could see my work. I am also a member of the American Bladesmith Society and the Texas Knifemakers and Collectors Association .

I prefer to make drop point, fighter and Bowie type knives. I enjoy making knives. I like to forge my knife blades out of 1085 and 5160 steel. Both of these types of steel have fairly high carbon content and are fairly forgiving when forged. My knife blades are normalized three times. This gives the blade a consistent and compact grain structure. After the blade is ground to the desired appearance, it is quenched in oil to harden it. Now, the blade is tempered to allow it to bend and not break This process produces a superior knife blade.
I can make a blade from 0-1, 52100, or 440C, but prefer using 1085 or 5160. I usually make whatever I feel like making at the time. I will occasionally have knives already made and available for sale. I pride myself in doing good work and try to make each knife better than the last. To do this, I take my time when making the knife. I want my customers to be pleased with their purchase. I will warranty my knives as long as they are not abused or used for purposes other than they were designed. The knives should not be used to pry with nor should they be thrown.
Feel free to browse my site and look at my knives. I will take orders in advance and all orders are completed on a first come first serve basis.
